Diane Sue Jucha

August 16, 1954 — May 27, 2023

Diane Sue (Hooten) Jucha was born August 16, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the 2nd child of Robert and Eileen Hooten who both preceded her in death.

Diane graduated from Avon High School in 1972. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Avon, Indiana. There she sang alto in the Youth Choir, “The Faith Baptist Chordettes”.

Diane was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing and could whip up anything from clothes to formal curtains. She also embarked on the hobby of beekeeping for many years in which she not only harvested the honey but also made candles from the beeswax and both she shipped around the world. She was fondly known as ‘The Bee Lady”. Many of the candles were sent to churches.

She was fond of trips to Arkansas and other areas where she would dig for crystals and other precious gems. She loved making jewelry and sharing her jewelry with others…especially her nieces and nephews as well as helping them to design their own necklaces and bracelets often using crystals and gems, she had acquired on her digs.

She was a certified scuba diver. She was a life-member in the Confederate Air Force (now known as the Commemorative Air Force). She was a member of Jobs Daughters. For many years, when it was Indiana State Fair time, she would volunteer to work in the Log Cabin (in her self-made costume) demonstrating the art of carding wool and spinning it on a spinning wheel or weaving rugs and blankets on a loom. She was a great cook and canned a lot of her own vegetables which she would share with others.

Diane had a heart of gold and if she saw you had a ‘need’…she would do her best to make sure you got it.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Fellowship Church in Martinsville, Indiana. She loved her little church and everyone in it. She participated in The Lydia Fellowship (Ladies Group) and all their many functions such as craft fairs and preparing meals for others etc. She truly was the epitome of the word, JOY (Jesus, Others and You).

Diane never had any children of her own, but she dearly loved ALL her nieces and nephews, and they loved her.

Diane was killed in a tragic vehicle accident on I-70 just West of Plainfield on Saturday May 27, 2023. Her “Celebration of Life” will be June 24, 2023 at 11am at Zion Baptist Fellowship Church, 7520 State Road 142, Martinsville, IN 46151.

Diane is survived by her sister, Patricia (Matthew) Manship in Avon, IN; brother, Jim (Vicki) Hooten in Nicholasville, KY; Sister, Deborah Hooten in Columbus, IN; sister, Carol (Larry) Laminger in Avon, IN and brother, Robert (Sue) Hooten in Brownsburg, IN; as well as all her nieces, nephews and former spouse, Joseph Jucha in Martinsville, IN.

We will miss you terribly and look forward to seeing you again when the Lord calls us ALL home.
